The Rio de Janeiro Metro is a mass-transit underground railway network that serves the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Metrô was inaugurated on March 5, 1979 and consisted of five stations operating on a single line.


SuperVia Concessionária de Transporte Ferroviário S.A. (SuperVia) is a Rio de Janeiro-based urban rail transit operator serving twelve municipalities. The company operates 270km of lines with 102 stations, transporting more than 700,000 passengers per day.


Secretaria de Estado de Transportes do Rio de Janeiro (Setrans) is a Brazilian public entity in charge of promoting the implementation, extension, efficiency, safety, and integration of cargo and passenger public transport infrastructure.


VLT Carioca is a Brazilian consortium which entered a public–private partnership with Rio de Janeiro’s municipal government and was awarded a 25-year concession for the development, operation and maintenance of a light rail in the city’s central and port areas.
